Nebraska’s first handwritten mail company

I wish GhostHandwriter existed when I needed it. So I built it.

The campaign that worked in spite of the vendor

My name’s Cam Vacek. A few years ago I started a new job as head of marketing.

That year, we hired a robotic handwriting company to write and mail a batch of handwritten cards for one of our campaigns.

It worked. I quadrupled our leads from the year before.

But getting those cards out the door was painful. The vendor’s project management was a mess. I never knew where our order stood. I chased them for every update.

What I really wanted was a partner. Someone who kept me in the loop, brought ideas to the table, and cared about the campaign as much as I did.

I couldn’t find one.

And I couldn’t shake one thought:

If this worked this well with mediocre service, how well would it work with great service?

So I decided to build the company I’d been looking for.

One machine and one weekend

I’d spent years in marketing. I’d built websites and run campaigns for other companies.

So I convinced my husband to let me buy one machine to pilot the idea.

I built the website in a weekend.

Those early days were small. I was figuring out our processes, figuring out who we served best, and marketing to pretty much anyone who’d listen. (The bridal show was a flop)

Then I sent gifts. Badly.

About two years ago I finished reading Giftology. I’ve always known that taking care of your current clients brings more referrals and repeat business. So I started testing it on my own clients.

The first gift was tea from my favorite small tea shop.

No handwritten note. I wrote on the outside of the package with a Sharpie.

The reaction? Crickets.

That’s how sloppy those first gifts were. I cringed when I think about how that campaign was executed.

So I went back to the drawing board and decided to put some strategy behind it. Practical, useful things people actually wanted. And every one paired with a handwritten message.

The week it clicked

By the third gift, we started to get traction.

That same week the gift dropped:

  • Two past clients came back for more

  • A prospect I’d been chasing for months finally signed (not only one campaign, but four across their sales team.)

That’s when I knew this is the strategy was the golden goose. 🥚🪿

OK, finally…

This is an About page, so I guess we should give you the facts.

A ghostwriter writes on your behalf. We handwrite on your behalf, thus GhostHandwriter.

GhostHandwriter runs handwritten card and gift campaigns for SaaS companies, high-ticket service businesses, and anyone with a long sales cycle.

Handwritten cards.

Written by machine with a real pen. Your message, your signature, no printed fonts pretending to be ink.

Lumpy mail.

Gifts and packages paired with a handwritten note. You tell us the outcome you want. We source it, assemble it, and ship it.

Recurring programs. (like the one above)

A physical touchpoint every 60 days with no sales ask. For your clients, past clients, and referral partners.

Account-based campaigns.

For the target accounts that have ignored every email, call, and LinkedIn message you’ve sent.

We’re Nebraska’s first handwritten mail company, running several handwriting machines out of our own space. Every package is assembled by hand, in house.

How we work

People describe us as “if Chick-fil-A and Apple had a baby.” Ridiculously friendly. Obsessively polished. Here’s what that looks like:

White glove, zero stuffiness.

Fast replies from real people, same-day turnarounds when we can, and no formalities.

We start with “Yes.”

Tight deadline? Weird request? We figure out how before we ever say no.

We "dogfood" our ideas.

We test every idea on our own clients before we recommend it to you.

Excellent, or it doesn’t ship.

Names, addresses, and duplicates get checked before anything leaves the building.

GhostHandwriter helps you answer

How do I get a meeting with an account that’s ignored every email?

How do I stay top of mind with clients without pitching them?

How do I get more referrals without asking for them?

What do I send that won’t end up in the trash?

How do I get people to actually show up to our event or booth?

How do I keep clients longer than my competitors can?

How do I get our holiday gifts out on time this year?

Good enough doesn’t ship

A mistake, I can fix. We own it, make it right, and fix the process.

But coasting?

That’s sneakier.

It’s the vendor who wows you on campaign one and phones it in by campaign ten. Slow replies with no urgency and lots of complacency.

That’s the exact experience that started this company. And it’s the one thing I refuse to let happen here.

So every campaign gets the same checks: we verify your data, catch duplicates, and send you a printed proof before a single card goes out.

Your 10th campaign gets the same care, creativity, and nerves as your first. If it’s not excellent, it doesn’t leave the building.

We know we have to earn your business every single send.

That’s why I started GhostHandwriter.
