GhostHandwriter vs. Sendoso: Self-Serve Speed or Done-For-You Strategy?

GhostHandwriter vs. Sendoso: Self-Serve Speed or Done-For-You Strategy?

var(--variable-nOOk3AkhY)

TLDR; Sendoso is a gifting platform you run. GhostHandwriter is a team that runs your gifting for you. Both options can do client and prospect gifting for you, but there are some differences,

Last week we got on a call with a B2B industrial tech company. They were spending $4,000 to $5,000 a month on Sendoso to reach about 150 people. Their sales team liked the idea of gifting, but they had some reservations.

Their list of complaints was specific:

  • The cost per person was hard to justify as they planned to scale toward 1,000 recipients.

  • Inventory kept running out mid-campaign.

  • The gift didn't really fit the buyer due to limited selection.

  • The packaging felt, in their words, "Amazon-y."

None of that means Sendoso is a bad product. It means it was likely not a good fit for what they were trying to do. Here's how the two actually compare.

What's the Actual Difference Between Sendoso and GhostHandwriter?

Sendoso is software. You log in, pick items from their marketplace or stock your own branded swag in their warehouse, and your reps send from there. They do offer handwritten notes as an add-on. The strategy, the message, and the item choice are on you.

GhostHandwriter is a done-for-you service. You tell us who you're trying to reach and what you want to happen. We pitch the campaign idea, write the message, source the item, write the card with a real pen on our robots, hand-assemble every package in Nebraska, and ship it.

If your team has the time and ideas to run gifting in-house, a platform makes sense. If your team is already stretched thin, a platform is one more login nobody uses.

How Does Sendoso Pricing Compare to GhostHandwriter?

Sendoso charges you for access, then charges you again for everything you send. GhostHandwriter charges you for what you send. That's it.

Sendoso doesn't publish prices. According to Docket's April 2026 breakdown, reported platform fees start around $15,000 to $25,000 a year, and gift spend, shipping and handling, and warehouse storage are all billed separately. Annual contracts are standard.

Our pricing is per package, all in:

  • Handwritten card plus a small gift: about $15 per package. That covers the card, the item, packaging, hand assembly, and shipping.

  • Bigger themed kits: priced to the build.

  • No platform fee, no contracts (unless you want the best pricing)

Why Should the Gift Match Your Message Instead of a Catalog?

A gift picked from a catalog says "we have a gifting budget." A gift picked for the buyer says "we know what your day looks like."

We start from the other direction: what does your buyer care about, and what does your company actually fix for them? Then we find an item that ties the two together.

The card ties it to the message and the item enhances the message. They work in tandem, just like your neighbors riding their tandem bikes.

What Happens When Your Gifting Inventory Runs Out?

On a platform, it just stops. Somebody has to notice, reorder, wait for it to land at the warehouse, and restart the send. Meanwhile your rep's follow-up sequence keeps going without the gift it was built around.

We don't stock a warehouse of your swag. We source items per campaign and size the order to your list. If you're sending to 150 people this month and 400 next quarter, we buy for 150 and then for 400.

Does Packaging Really Matter That Much?

Yes. If the box looks like the paper towels you ordered, it gets opened like the paper towels you ordered.

Fulfillment-center packaging is built for speed and volume. That's fine for a replacement phone charger. It's a problem when the whole point is to feel personal.

Every GhostHandwriter package is assembled by hand. The handwritten card, with the recipient's name on the envelope, sits on top so it's the first thing they see. The item is packed so the unboxing is part of the user experience. We've shipped over 25,000 gifts this way, and people post them unprompted.

What Are the Downsides of Working With GhostHandwriter?

We're not the right fit for everyone, and pretending otherwise would waste your time and ours. Here's what you give up:

  • You're waiting on us. With a platform, a rep can send a gift in five minutes. With us, there's a person in the loop. We move fast, but it's still a handoff, and some teams hate handoffs.

  • You don't control every click. If you like building campaigns yourself and tweaking them on a Tuesday afternoon, a done-for-you service can feel like giving up the steering wheel.

  • It's not built for spur-of-the-moment sends. If a rep wants to send one coffee card right after a good call, a platform does that better. We're built for planned campaigns to a list.

  • No instant eGifts or in-CRM triggers. We ship physical things with real handwritten cards. That takes a little longer than an email with a gift card link.

So what do you get for the wait? Strategy. Most teams running a gifting platform are guessing at what to send, what to say, and when to send it. We've run hundreds and hundreds of campaigns and tested ideas on our own list before recommending them to anyone. You're not paying us to stuff boxes. You're paying us to skip the guessing and start with what already works.

If speed and full control matter more to you than strategy, a platform is the better call. (though we respond quite quickly to email)

If you'd rather get it right than get it out the door in five minutes, that's us.

When Is Sendoso the Better Choice?

We'd rather lose a deal than win the wrong one, so here's why Sendoso is probably the better fit if:

  • You have a large sales team where every rep needs to fire off one-off gifts on their own schedule

  • You want eGift cards and instant digital sends as a big part of the mix

  • You need sends triggered from inside Salesforce or HubSpot, which Sendoso integrates with natively

  • You have a dedicated person whose job is running the platform

GhostHandwriter is the better fit if:

  • You want campaigns that feel personal, not automated

  • You'd rather hand off strategy, messaging, sourcing, and fulfillment to one team

  • You're running ABM to a defined list of target accounts, or a nurture program to clients and referral partners

  • You don't want to sign an annual contract to find out if gifting works

What Does Switching From Sendoso Look Like?

One 30-minute call. You tell us who you're trying to reach, what you're sending now, and what's not working. We'll pitch a campaign idea on the call, item and message included, with an all-in price per package.

You can run us alongside Sendoso for one campaign and compare results. No contract, no platform to learn, no sweat.
