The short answer: USPS Ground Advantage needs to ship by December 17 to land by Christmas, and the absolute last call is UPS Next Day Air on December 23. If you're sending corporate gifts with handwritten cards, your real deadline is a lot earlier than that.
Every December, someone asks us on the 20th if we can get 300 gifts out by the 25th. We admire the optimism. 😂
Here are this year's carrier cutoffs, plus what we tell our own clients about timing.
What Are the 2026 Holiday Shipping Deadlines?
To arrive on or before December 25, ship by these dates (per Pirate Ship, the shipping platform we use):
Carrier | Service | Ship by |
|---|---|---|
USPS | Ground Advantage | Thursday, Dec 17 |
USPS | Priority Mail | Friday, Dec 18 |
USPS | Priority Mail Express | Saturday, Dec 19 |
UPS | 3 Day Select | Monday, Dec 21 |
UPS | 2nd Day Air | Tuesday, Dec 22 |
UPS | Next Day Air | Wednesday, Dec 23 |
UPS | Ground and Ground Saver | Varies by location, get a quote |
International (Asendia) | Simple Export Rate | Dec 1 to Dec 18, depending on country and service |
Alaska, Hawaii, military addresses, and most international destinations have earlier cutoffs. Check with your carrier before you plan around these.
Are Holiday Shipping Deadlines Guaranteed?
No. Those dates are delivery estimates, not promises. December is the busiest stretch of the year for every carrier, and a single snowstorm in the wrong hub can put your package in timeout for days.
The deadline is the last possible day, not the recommended day. Treat it like the gas light on your dashboard.
When Should You Order Corporate Holiday Gifts?
If you want gifts and handwritten cards landing before Christmas, here's the timeline we give our own clients:
End of November: final call for anything customized or engraved. Logo setup takes a day or two, and we can etch about 50 custom tumblers a day. Ordering 200+? Add time.
First week of December: pieces need to be moving. Holiday carrier speed is a coin flip, and we'd rather not flip it.
Mid-December: you're now relying on the dates in the table above, and a little luck.
The biggest holdup is almost never the gift. It's the address list. Good news: you don't need the full list to get started. Send us a headcount and we can start ordering while you chase down addresses.
What If You Already Missed the Holiday Shipping Deadline?
Send a New Year's gift instead. Honestly, it's our favorite move.
Ship after Christmas and your gift lands the first week of January. Here's why that works:
No competition. Your client's desk isn't buried under twelve other tins of popcorn.
No wording stress. You skip the Christmas vs. happy holidays debate entirely.
Better timing. People are back at work, planning the year, and actually paying attention.
So if December got away from you, you didn't miss it. You just picked a smarter date.
Can GhostHandwriter Handle Your Holiday Gifts?
Yes. We pick (or source) the gift, write the card by robot in real ink, pack it, and ship it. You send the list and a rough idea of what you want people to feel when they open it.
Personal without you personally having to do it.
Tell us your headcount and whether you're aiming for Christmas or New Year's, and we'll tell you exactly when we need the rest.
want us to handle it?
Tell us the outcome. We’ll handle the rest.
Handwritten cards and lumpy mail, planned, written, packed, and shipped for you.
